What will happen when I come in?
When you come in to TPG you will meet with one of our Employment Consultants who will explain our service to you. You will have the opportunity to discuss your needs and ask any questions you may have. You are under no obligation to register with us. If you do decide to register we can provide assistance if needed.
Will TPG only help me until I find a job?
No, you will remain registered with TPG for as long as you need us. It is our aim to assist you to find secure employment, however our job does not stop there. We will continue to support you on or off-site while you are employed and assist with any problems that may arise. We will assist you to maintain your employment and if the need arises we will assist you with changing your employment.
What if I have a problem with my employer?
TPG offers mediation assistance for any problems that may arise and will happily speak with your employer on your behalf and/or meet with you both to help you talk through the issue with your employer.
Resume Tips
Make sure you include:
- Contact details including your name, address, email and phone or mobile number
- Demonstrated skills in relation to what is required
- Relevant employment history
- Relevant education and training qualifications
- Referees including their name and contact details
Interview Tips
At the Interview:
- You should arrive early
- Try to make a good impression at first. Many judgements are made by employers in the first few moments of meeting you
- Listen carefully to the questions and answer clearly and concisely
- Maintain eye contact with the interviewer
- Remember - your body language will be talking to the employer too. Sit up straight. Do not fold your arms and keep your hands away from your face
Donts of Interview Behaviour:
- Never indicate that you are desperate for a job
- Never criticise a former employer or boss
- Never talk about your domestic or financial problems
- Never answer a question if you don't understand it or didn't hear it clearly. Ask politely for clarification
- Never stay at an interview if you feel you have been insulted by the interviewer - no job is that important
