TPG History / Our New DirectionThe Personnel Group Ltd launch in November 2007, represents the growth of our service from its initial purpose as a Disability Employment Service, Personnel Employment, to one that provides a number of government programs with an employment focus. In 2007, after 21 years of providing "solution focused employment services", the Board and Staff determined to broaden our direction to become a more holistic organisation that worked 'in our community for our community' with the nexus of our focus being 'long term sustainable employment for people who may experience disadvantage in their endeavor to find quality employment options'. Specifically we assist people with a disability, learning disability or mental health condition, but this broader scope gives us the opportunity to seek funds or provide services that will assist us in our long term purpose. Hence our recruitment arm provides us with the opportunity to assist employers to find the right people for their vacancies, but provides a greater reach for us to work in the broader local labour markets. Our Youth Pathways Program assists young people at risk of not finishing school, so they can have better opportunities if they finish school, and our Personal Support Program, assists people to link back into the community, helping them to get back on track with their lives so they can pursue employment. We are currently investigating the opportunities presented by the 'Social Firm' model, to be able to provide more opportunities for people with disadvantage, to access employment in a workplace that is supportive of their requirements to achieve full productivity. Social Firms support about 40% of workers with a disability in their workforce. Our final focus will be on identifying gaps in service provision in our communities and directing any profits from social firms into funding those programs. This is a long term goal that will be reviewed modified and evaluated annually. |
